When it comes to creating content that your audience will engage with stories are a powerful tool.

Stories can help build a sense of connection, build trust, showcase your expertise and make you more relatable. There are no real rules when it comes to how you do this but keep in mind authenticity is key.

This week we flew back to Long Island to finalize my husbands aunts estate, as a matter of fact I am writing this blog while flying home.  I feel a sense of relief to have a very stressful situation just about over.
During our April We Plan Wednesday (monthly Plandipity Doer’s content planning meeting) I shared a story about all the crazy things I have encountered thus far in the process of trying to handle her final affairs. It was funny because about halfway into my presentation on how to use stories and why I realized that I had just given an amazing example by sharing about the crazy stuff that was happening, seriously couldn’t make this shit up! When I shared the story all the members where sharing similar experiences and offering advise and support.

Why do you think that was?

Easy, because it was relatable.

Most of us have been through some kind of loss and had to deal with the aftermath. Sharing that story made a connection and opened a conversation.

Your stories don’t need to be deep or overly personal to have the same effect they just need to be genuine.

For the story to have a good effect on your marketing efforts it should relate to your business in some way as well.

If you are a Plandipity Doer and missed the April meeting you should head over to our community and watch the replay for a mini training and brainstorming ideas. If you are not a member yet, keep reading for some tips on how to use stories in your social media marketing content.

Sharing Story Tips

Sharing stories is a great way to build a personal connection with your audience which will boost engagement and help you earn the know-like-trust factor you need to create raving fans.

Make sure you have a point

How does this story relate to your dream client or your business?

Remove unnecessary details

Sometimes we can go on and on sharing details that are not relevant and we lose our audience.

Use dialog in your story

This adds a bit of interest to a story and often makes the person listening (reading) pay a little more attention.

In this month's caboodle, I challenge you to use a story in a post or two a week.

Need a little inspiration?  Here you go:

You could share a goal you set for 2022 and give a mid-year update. talk about what it will mean to you to reach the school and how far away you are from it.

Share a story about a client experience you had as a client or from one. More than just a testimonial sharing the story about a client's journey will give a better idea of what it’s like to work with or buy from you.

Posting for Mother’s Day?  Share a story about your mother or maybe what motherhood is like for you.

Try to have some fun with it!

Happy Planning.
