  • Daily Post Ideas for June
  • An invitation to a Free 30 Day Video Challenge.

Let's talk video.....

short-form video to be specific.  Just to be upfront I am not a fan of being in front of the camera, especially on video but I do see the value in it so I would be doing you a major injustice if I didn't impress on you the importance of them for your growth on social media.

First of all by short-form video I am referring to things like Reels on Instagram and Facebook, TikTok, and other emerging options out there.  I focus my energy mostly on reels adn now that I have been doing them fo a bit I am starting to have fun with it, like this video of my big hair change.
⬅️
These types of videos are attention-grabbing, easy to remember, and more often than not when done well, entertaining.

Many of my clients are intimidated by them for one reason or another.

So I will start by telling that the videos that look and feel authentic, meaning you maybe didn't get it perfect, get the best response.  Another awesome thing is they don't have to be long, the sweet spot is 7 seconds (right now).

How to use them for your business??

You may find it difficult to find entertaining ways to work these types of videos into your business content so let me share some ideas with you.

  • Share what it looks like for real behind the scenes.  Maybe a crazy fast time-lapse of an event set up, a messy desk you never share, or a collection of supplies that you want to use but don't but can't seem to get rid of.
  • Tell an industry "secret".  This may be hard because to you it may seem like comment knowledge but to others, it may blow their minds.  Like did you know that most hotels are independently owned and operated?  The Hilton in Denver and the one in Tampa are probably not owned by the same people.  You could also do this by defining a term your industry uses all the time that others would know.  This is good to think about because if you use these words in your marketing you should go remove them!
  • Do a product or service highlight.  I would pick a benefit it offers to the client and use that as the focus of the video. Like if your product saves time maybe you would do a funny video about procrastination or lack of hours in the day.
  • Day in the life of " insert what you do here" (organizer, party planner, ER nurse, Marketing Maven). Like a BTS but shows some of you lifestyle too, just some quick video clips - coffee time, kids off to summer camp, staring at the computer, trying to make a reel, picking kids up..... fill in the blanks.  This helps people feel like they know you.
  • FAQ- If you have enough of these you may want to make this a regular thing- Frequent Friday Q&A's or something.  That may be too tacky or it could just be brilliant - you decide.  However, by regularly sharing answers that people are asking you will position yourself as the expert, you will also increase your searchability when you properly hashtag the post.

Short Form Video Tips

Consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.

Be Genuine

I mentioned this already but it is important that you hear me, your videos should not be staged.  The more you that you are the better response you will see.

Soundless Optimization

It is very common for people to watch these videos with the sound off so be sure to add text, stickers or props that help you get your main point across.

Short is Sweet

Keep it under a minute and do your best to capture the audience's attention in the first few seconds, otherwise they may keep scrolling.

You get what you ask for

or should I say if you don't ask you won't recieve?  However, I word it the point is, don't forget your call to action (CTA).  This tells your audience what to do next.  Leave a comment, answer a question, visit a link, buy a thing - tell them what it is you want them to do.

Don't be a Saleshole

Like your general content plan, your video content should not be all sales either.  Since it is likely new followers will find you through these posts make them valuable.
