It is my favorite time of the month.

It is time to share this month's Content Caboodle!

What is a Hashtag #?

A hashtag is a combination of letters, numbers, and/or emoji preceded by the # symbol (#WEEKENDVIBES). They are used to categorize content and make it more discoverable.

You may know this but keep reading because the next part of the tip may shock you!

#beseen

It occurred to me last week during a conversation with a networking group pal that hashtags are not really understood.  You know what I am talking about: the symbol you will find right above the 3 on your keyboard?  I know you know, everyone seems to have one these days and for good reason.

Back when I was shooting weddings many of my couples had one for their wedding #themarkeys01.  This made it possible for everyone to find the wedding photos taken by friends and family.  So cool!

Why is that important to your business?

Hashtags are basically searched engines.  Made popular by Twitter and most recently, Instagram but hashtags are useful on most of the social media platforms in one way or another.

There are serval things to consider what choosing hashtags for your posts but for right now what I want to stress is if you are not using them you are missing out.

Why? Because hashtags are powerful tools that extend the visibility of a post outside of your current followers and make it far more likely for new people to find you.

This is huge!

Or at least I thought so! So here is a final thought on hashtags (for today).

Did you know that on instagram we can elect to follow hashtags?  This means that someone could see your hashtagged post in their feed even if they don’t already follow you!

Happy Posting! ❤️

I hope your creativity is flowing right now and you get get your April Content calendar together now.

Don't forget to share this post with your small business owner friends.  They will thank you for it.

Cheers,
❤️ Samantha
